The Universal Potteries Company was formed in 1934 in Cambridge, Ohio by a
group of Cambridge businessmen. The company is best known to collectors for its Cattail and Ballerina lines.
The Universal Potteries Company sold many lines to grocery stores, movie houses and service stations for use as premium items. Cattail can be found in a variety of shapes. It can also be found on tinware, glassware and wood items. An oak kitchen table was available from Sears decorated to match the Cattail dinnerware.
Ballerina was also widely distributed and decorated in many different decorations and treatments.
The Universal Potteries Company closed in 1960.
