The American Beauty, tableware patterns
of Homer Laughlin China were found in the same 1899 Homer Laughlin catalog as Golden Gate, another Homer Laughlin China shape.
This shape consists of more individual pieces than any other HLC
line. Purchasers could choose from over 90 individual pieces,
including platters ranging in size from 6" to 19", five different
size bakers, three different newports (square serving bowls), plus
a range of unusual items such as dishes for serving olives and
pickles, and a toast rack.
American Beauty was sold through Sears and other mail-order
outlets. American Beauty is not as readily found as some of the later
Homer Laughlin shapes, possibly due to the more limited production lifetime.
