Homer Laughlin China, Applique 1953, China Replacements

Replacement Homer Laughlin China in the Applique china patterns.

Applique is not a shape, but a process of decoration.  The Applique process was a joint effort of the Homer Laughln China Company and the E.I.  Dupont de Nemour Company.  Developed in 1953, the Applique process was "developed to give overglaze decorations of bold relief and colors, which were bright and resistant to both food acids and washing detergents." The Applique line was made up of the Brittany, Rhythm and Charm House shapes with the flatware from the Brittany shape.  Some solid color hollowware (Charm House and Rhythm) was used with the Applique line.  The Charm House colored glaze colors were black, chartreuse, dark green, yellow and bright blue.
Some of the decorations used on the Applique line include: A-100 Yellow Daisy, A-101 Cherry Valley, A-102 Pennsylvania Dutch, A-103 Black Eyed Susan, A-104 Apple, A-105 Plaid, A-106 Tulip, A-109 Sherbrooke, A-111 Spring Song, A-112 Mayfair, A-113 Pageant, A-114 Star Tree and A-115 Love Song.
