Best China 1960 - Best China is the Homer Laughlin China Company's name for their food service lines. During the late 1950s melamine and Japanese import dinnerware were stiff competition to the American potteries, so the Homer Laughlin Company decided to produce dinnerware for hotels, restaurants and other food institutions. Best China was introduced in 1960 as a fully vitrified china line. Plant number 6 was adapted for this purpose and Carolyn was the first Best China shape produced.
