Genuine Fiesta by Homer Laughlin China
Condition: New and Used
Fiesta® was designed by Frederick H. Rhead in 1936 and is now among the most collected china products in the world. As originally designed, the line featured art deco styling and bold, bright colors. The product was discontinued in 1973 and reissued in 1986 with new contemporary colors to mark its 50th anniversary.
Fiesta was introduced to the public in January 1936 in five original colors. These colors were light green, yellow, red, cobalt, and ivory. Turquoise and medium green were added later making 7 original colors. Fiesta dinnerware is unique in its decoration because of its concentric circles around the edge and in the center. In later years some colors were discontinued and
others were added. The added colors were chartreuse, gray, dark (or spruce) green, and rose.
In the 1960´s additional variations, colors, and shapes were introduced. However, interest in Fiesta decreased and the last pieces of what we now call "old" Fiesta were produced. In 1987 Homer Laughlin resumed production of Fiesta dinnerware, but this time it was in slightly different colors - colors which were more pastel.
Today, collectors of Fiesta have a wide variety of both old and new pieces to collect, even though the older pieces in mint condition are becoming harder to find.
Homer Laughlin’s Fiesta is the best selling dinnerware in American history. Well over 500 million pieces have been produced in the last 70 years. |
