Newell 1928 - The Newell shape was introduced in 1928. From an old ad: "The tendency toward graceful lines and delicate modeling promises to be a feature of the popular taste for 1928." Newell was the first shape designed by newly employed art director, Fredrick Rhead. Mr Rhead wrote in his journal: December 26, 1927 "photograph of Newell shape for catalogs". The Newell shape replaced Hudson in the 1929 Homer Laughlin catalogs. The Newell Patent Design Serial Number 27,575 was filed on July 25, 1928.
