Homer Laughlin dinnerware service in the pattern RY249.  This pattern was designed by a former Miss America, Bess Meyerson.  She was on the TV show "The Big Pay Off" and this was given away as a prize.

Rumor has it that a young lady named Betty, working on line while this pattern was being produced was constantly bouncing around with excitement and the pattern name "Bouncing Betty" was born.  Many collectors know this pattern as "Bouncing Betty".

This pattern was sold to the Specialty China Company of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania who distributed the ware.
