Theme 1939 - The Theme shape was designed to exhibit at the 1939 New York World's Fair. The shape was described as having a rich embossed border of fruit design in light-weight and was decorated with old-fashioned floral centers of modern colorings. The Theme shape dinnerware had the charm of old English gardens, which appealed to the most discriminating buyers.
According to the "Official Price Guide to Pottery and Porcelain", Theme was originally produced blank. Although Homer Laughlin did not do special-order commemoratives and souvenir plates, outside decorating shops used Laughlin blanks, and Theme plates are perhaps the most common of the Laughlin shapes to be used in this fashion."
