Pebbleford China Pattern Replacements by Taylor, Smith & Taylor
Replacement China in the Pebbleford China Patterns made by Taylor, Smith & Taylor in the USA.
Pebbleford was actually pre-introduced to the trade in the Crockery & Glass Journal (CGJ) in December 1952. The line was originally called Diversity, because it was felt to be unlike anything on the tableware market at that time. Later, the shape was referred to as Versatile.
The ceramic body was lightweight and had a look and feel that was felt to be better than most low-priced wares. The flatware was coupe shaped and lidded items had lug-type handles (referred to as "lip" handles) for easy lifting. Cups were designed to resist being easily knocked over. Certain items in the line were said to be multipurpose and suitable for gifts. Coffee pots have been found with two different diameter openings and two different lid sizes.
