1835 Wallace Silver, Silver Plate Flatware Replacement

1835 Wallace Silver, Silver Plate Flatware Replacement designed by artist Henrik Hillbom.

1835 R Wallace - Robert Wallace was a silversmith born in 1815. By 1835, his business was actively in operation making spoons. His company evolved over the years into Wallace Silversmiths. The "1835 R Wallace" pieces were not made in 1835 and the patterns did not originate in 1835. The date and name are just product names developed much later by the company evidently to honor its founding or founder.

Silverplate is not solid silver but brass or other metal plated with silver. It will tarnish and may require silver polishing before use, if it's not used often. Pure silver is nonmagnetic. Silver plated over something else is as magnetic as what it's plating. These pieces do not attract to magnet except for the blade of the dinner knife. Silverplate is not to be washed in the dishwasher.
