Schmid is a Japanese company, part of Schmid International, specializing in porcelain dinnerware including the 1960s popular fine art porcelain series Kelco, especially made for the European, British and American Western Markets. The porcelain tableware has been featured in international exhibitions including the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Ceramic Art, Gifu, Japan; exhibition The Splendor of Western-style Ceramic Tableware, Gallery II, Room A.
Many designers have also worked with the company including La Gardo Tackett, a Los Angeles-based designer which produced the "Forma" line of dinnerware.
